IMG_3149 ToyDrive2014-SmallGREENSBURG – In 2005, Dietary Manager Connie Million started a Toy Drive at Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) in lieu of a department Christmas party. She and her co-workers began collecting new toys for Human Services, who distributes them to local families in need. When asked why she feels this program is so important, Connie stated, “There is such a need in our community and I feel that every little bit helps.”

2015 marked the 10th year for the DCMH Toy Drive. This year, the Dietary Staff received over 150 toys as well as almost $200 in cash donations. Million stated this is the largest amount of cash donations they have received since their start in 2005.  With this, they purchased more toys and gift cards to be distributed to families in the community by Human Services.

Since the beginning, the Toy Drive has grown and now all employees of DCMH support this great cause. DCMH had many staff members contribute this year and in return, it was one of the most successful Toy Drive’s they have ever had. Million concluded, “The holidays are about giving, and at DCMH we want to give back to the community.”
