STAR Award Winner

DCMH proudly announces Abby Crowe as the 2025 Q3 Star Award Winner. Beginning her DCMH career nearly three years ago, Abby serves as the Oncology Nurse Navigator. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Indianapolis and, in 2025, earned her Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.

A Decatur County native, Abby has been married to her husband, Alex, for nearly four years. Together, they have twin daughters, Carly and Josie, and a dog named Seymour. Outside of her role at DCMH, Abby enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending church at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, fishing, reading, and resting when time allows.

Abby’s commitment to her patients and the community led to her multiple STAR nominations this quarter. One nominator praised her advocacy for patients receiving cancer treatments, noting, “Abby advocates for the best care options and offers consistent emotional support to our cancer patients and families. She truly understands the patient’s experience.” This nominator additionally recognized Abby’s generosity to those on her team, adding, “Abby is always willing to lend a helping hand to her co-workers. She is a great resource for nurses newer to Oncology and our providers as well.” Adding to the exceptional support and care Abby provides patients and families, another nominator added, “Abby goes out of her way to make patients and families feel comfortable under difficult circumstances. She has been so sweet with my father and me.”

For Abby, her role as the Oncology Nurse Navigator is extremely important to her. She states, “I am deeply passionate about advocating for patients and ensuring they have the support they need throughout their cancer journey. Above all, I aim to ensure that every patient feels cared for in the same way I would want my own family members to be cared for.” For others looking to find similar success to Abby, she believes kindness is key; “Be kind and treat others the way you want to be treated. You never know what someone else is going through, and a little kindness and respect can go a long way.”
