Decatur County Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Cathy Wichman, MSN, RN as the new Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Cathy began her education at Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus where she received her Associate of Science in Nursing Degree in 2008. She later attended the University of Southern Indiana for her Bachelors in Nursing, as well as her Masters of Science in Nursing Management and Leadership.

Recently, Cathy served as the Emergency Department Director for Schneck Medical Center where she led the development of the trauma program and led emergency services to nationally recognized levels of care. She also serves Indiana University as an Adjunct Nursing Professor.   Cathy brings many years of healthcare leadership experience to her new role, having a background in medical-surgical nursing and pediatric care. She is certified by the Indiana Hospital Association Management Institute, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives.  Cathy is highly involved in professional organizations including currently serving as board president for the Southeastern Indiana Organization of Nurse Executives.

Cathy grew up in the Greensburg area and has close family in the community.  She and her husband, Brian, have four adult children and currently reside in the region.
