STAR – Employee Recognition Program
Decatur County Memorial Hospital has a dedicated staff of which we are proud. We want to recognize the outstanding service of these individuals.
The STAR program was created to recognize any and all employees for being selfless, working as and among a team, taking action and achieving results. This program embodies the same principles adopted by DCMH’s mission and vision, incorporates a lot of our Studer Initiatives and aims toward higher standards and better recognition overall!

What is STAR all about?
A poem written by Carl Holmes helps to demonstrate exactly what we are looking to recognize about our co-workers, employees, friends and patient-care providers:
“And then some… these three little words are the secret to success. They are the difference between average people and top people in most companies. The top people always do what is expected… and then some. They are thoughtful of others; they are considerate and kind… and then some. They meet their responsibilities fairly and squarely… and then some. They are good friends and helpful neighbors… and then some. They can be counted on in an emergency… and then some. I am thankful for people like this, for they make the world a better place. Their spirit of service is summed up in these three little words… and then some.”
What does a STAR Award winner receive?
We will choose a STAR Award winner, quarterly, based on selection criteria from all nominees submitted within that quarter. The winner will be recognized with a VIP parking spot, their choice of one of the STAR Award Packages, a “Spotlight” page on the DCMH website, Facebook page and more – featuring a photo and story of why this person should be recognized, as well as recognition in the local newspaper.
In addition, all nominees will be recognized on a poster displayed at DCMH!
