Our Team
Our Team
Our staff includes certified cancer care nurses and our board-certified medical oncologist, Dr. Michael Slaughter who is associated with the Franciscan Physician Health Network. Dr. Slaughter’s distinction of being board certified indicates the education he has undertaken beyond the minimal standards and competency requirements in a chosen specialty.
- Board certification is voluntary and includes a rigorous exam that tests a physician’s ability to diagnose and treat patients.
- To maintain certification, physicians can participate in activities that assess knowledge of the latest scientific developments and changes in their area of specialty.
- In essence, the certification provides patients the assurance that the physician continues to display a superior level of knowledge and skill.
The Cancer Care team also includes a Nurse Navigator. The Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse, specially trained in cancer care, and serves as a guide and advocate for you and your family. The navigator works with your entire care team to coordinate the best care possible through each phase of treatment. During this time, the Nurse Navigator will help you regain control and maximize your quality of life.
In addition, our experienced, multidisciplinary staff include includes social work, rehabilitation services, clinical nutrition, and an oncology pharmacist.
