Welcome to the Women’s Center where our skilled obstetricians, family practitioners, and caring nurses provide exceptional care to expectant mothers, newborns, and families!

You’ll feel safe and supported as you prepare for your new arrival in the privacy and comfort our labor, delivery, and recovery rooms, along with access to our surgical room for Cesarean sections all within our unit. Expect exceptional care during your stay and experience one of life’s most important moments with our award-winning team, dedicated to delivering family-centered care.

Prenatal/Breastfeeding Classes

At the Women’s Center, we are dedicated to supporting you every step of the way on your journey to motherhood. Our free Prenatal classes are designed to empower you and your birth partner with the knowledge and skills needed for a positive labor and delivery experience. Learn essential relaxation and breathing techniques. Plus, explore our facility with a guided tour to ensure you feel comfortable and informed before delivery.

Golden Hour

The “golden hour” is when parents and newborns first spend time together as a family! We encourage this time together to foster the creation of lifelong healthy emotional connections. Limited visitors during this special hour is recommended. For more information call 812-663-1240.

Newborn Photography

We have contracted with Love Story Photography to offer new parents the chance to have professional photos taken of their newborn in the convenience of their private room. The photographs can be taken in a variety of poses, and moms, dads, and siblings are encouraged to attend the portrait session. Within 24 hours of the session, the photographs will be posted on Love Story’s secure, password-protected web gallery for parents to share with family and friends. Gifts of Gratitude

After the birth of your newest addition, you’ll receive special gifts to take home which keep the health and wellbeing of your child in mind. These gifts include:

  • A safe sleep swaddle sack, made possible by a grant from the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County.
  • A book to initiate your child’s love of learning, made possible by the Greensburg Decatur County Public Library.

Visitors are encouraged to visit between 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Women’s Center!

During labor, two support persons are allowed in the mother’s room, while additional visitors are kindly asked to stay in our designated waiting lounge until after the baby’s birth. Siblings are warmly welcomed, but other visitors must be at least 16 years old.

Lactation Support

The Women’s Center International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) and Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC) are dedicated to assisting with breastfeeding and lactation, providing support, problem-solving, and guidance tailored to each mother’s unique needs and preferences.

Milk Bank

The Women’s Center is a designated drop-off site for human milk donations, we offer convenience and accessibility for donors. If you are interested in supporting the health of infants and families in need, contact The Milk Bank directly at 317-536-1670 or visit www.themilkbank.org/donate to learn more about becoming a donor. Upon completing the screening process, connect with the Women’s Center at 812-663-1240 to schedule your drop-off appointment.

Imagination Library

Decatur County Memorial Hospital is proud to team up with the Decatur County United Fund and the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to our community, gifting free books to children up to age 5. Thanks to funding from these organizations, this program is available at no cost to Decatur County residents, provided their children are born at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
