Holidays are a slow time for blood donations because people are especially busy. However, the need for blood doesn’t take a holiday. Patients are still in the hospital and needing transfusions. Thankfully, Decatur County Memorial Hospital will be hosting a Holiday Blood Drive on December 7th from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. The event will be taking place in the DCMH Conference Room D. Sign up to give back this holiday season! Everyone is encouraged to roll up their sleeves for those in need.  Those interested can easily sign up for a donation appointment online at www.donorpoint.org. Walk-ins are also welcome.  All participants of the Holiday Blood Drive will receive a $5 Subway gift card as a thank you.

In order to donate, you must meet the following criteria: be at least 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds, wait 56 days between donations, be in good general health and not be pregnant.  Donors are asked to remember to eat a meal, drink plenty of water 24 hours before their appointment, and to bring a photo ID.

For more information, visit www.donorpoint.org or call 812-663-1228. This Christmas, join us for our Holiday Blood Drive and give the gift that keeps on giving.
