The Dietary Department provides nutritious, attractive, and palatable food to patients, staff, and visitors, while maintaining high standards of sanitation, production, and service to all customers. Members of the dietary staff visit patients one on one before meals to ensure that the food tolerances, preferences, ethnic, and religious needs of all patients are met on a daily basis. Room service is available for our Women’s Care unit and pediatric patients, where they can order off of the “restaurant-style” menu at their convenience.
The Dietary Services Department is staffed with one full-time and one part-time Registered Dietitian and a Certified Dietary Manager who provide all aspects of medical nutrition therapy for patients. The Registered Dietitians not only ensure that nutritional needs are being met, but also that patients receive proper nutrition counseling if necessary. Nutrition education classes and counseling is available for people of the community who are interested in weight loss, healthy eating, and diabetes education.
The DCMH Dietary Department also prepares meals for the Greensburg Meals on Wheels, providing a valuable partnership that assists not only each organization but also the clients unable to leave their homes or prepare a meal for themselves. The department also provides meals for many of the DCMH in-house meetings and events.
