Financial Assistance & Charity Care
The employees of Decatur County Memorial Hospital strive to provide exceptional healthcare services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Meeting the needs of people with limited resources has always been at the heart of our mission.
Our billing and collections policies are consistent with our mission and values. We treat all patients with dignity and respect from the bedside to the billing office. We recognize the difficulty unexpected medical problems can cause to your finances and we can help patients seek medical benefits from federal, state, and hospital programs.
There are often options and assistance for those who are uninsured or underinsured. We want to assist you in finding resources that may help pay your hospital bill. If you have any questions about your ability to pay or about available assistance programs, please let us know. We work with each patient to help meet their needs and circumstances.
Decatur County Memorial Hospital recently partnered with ClaimAid to offer eligibility screening and enrollment services to our patients and community. Patients can now meet with our ClaimAid Advocate, April Speers, onsite and receive assistance in completing applications for Hospital Presumptive Eligibility (HPE),Medicaid and Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), and marketplace plans. April will be located down HIM hallway third door on the right.
In order to provide our community with state of the art care that is also cost effective, Decatur County Memorial Hospital has an obligation to collect for services rendered in a timely and efficient manner. Patients or their guarantors will be responsible for the total charges incurred. As a courtesy to our patients we will bill insurance companies if proper documentation is received at the time of service.
