GREENSBURG — Senior Life Solutions celebrated their opening with a ribbon cutting on the second floor of Decatur County Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 17 in front of staff and residents from the Tree City.

Senior Life Solutions services are designed to provide assistance to those suffering from crying, hopelessness, loneliness, restlessness, sadness, depression, coping with loss, decreased energy, difficulty sleeping and low self-confidence.

According to Program Director Jessica Couch, Senior Life Solutions opened and accepted their first patients back in October, but it has been an ongoing process for the last year with the compiling of data to see if their services were a necessity. And results showed that there was indeed a great need.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this outpatient program to this community,” Couch said.

But it goes beyond assisting them on an emotional level, the program director says. And those that need the help can now receive it.

“It is a very underserved population. This is a wonderful resource for our seniors – those that have been suffering from anxiety, depression and have just been having a tough way to go, and they don’t have resources or outlets,” Couch added. “So, we’re absolutely thrilled to be able to offer this program, to be able to provide them with free transportation and hot meals during group days. This will not only impact their emotional health, but also their physical health by taking care of that behavioral health aspect.”

Senior Life Solutions says an appointment can be made by anyone, such as a patient’s physician or family members. For referrals, call 812-663-1139. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
