Decatur County Memorial Hospital has been awarded the Four Star Level of the AchieveWell process from the Wellness Council of Indiana. This award is designed to strategically evaluate, plan and analyze the growth of our wellness initiatives. At DCMH, our goal is to promote overall well-being through our Wellness Program.

The Wellness Council of Indiana is a not-for-profit organization specifically dedicated to worksite wellness and community well-being in Indiana. As a subsidiary of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the Wellness Council continues to grow and offer workplaces blueprints for success. The Wellness Council believes that the quality of life of any community is measured, to a large degree, by the health of its people. It is (their) vision to make Indiana a model state by improving the quality of life of employees and residents in order to enhance the competitiveness of our workplaces in a global economy.

In order to be recognized for this level of achievement, DCMH had to demonstrate the following: leadership involvement throughout the organization, a committed Wellness Team that uses data driven decision making, alignment between DCMH’s mission/vision and the Wellness Program mission/vision, proof of an operating plan, communications strategies and reward optimization, and incorporation of safety and injury prevention in the workplace.

“Our Wellness Program uses the AchieveWell process to further improve our wellness initiatives.  It is a great tool for evaluating our program’s strengths and weaknesses in comparison to other organizations.  We plan to continue using the Wellness Council of Indiana to grow our program and create a culture of overall health and wellness.”- Janine Walter, Wellness Coordinator at DCMH.
