The dream of a local Hospital became reality when Decatur County Memorial Hospital opened its doors on February 4, 1922 at its current location. The much-anticipated county-owned facility was built as a memorial to those Decatur County residents who fought and died for our country in World War I. We wish to continue that memorial by celebrating with local veterans and community members this holiday season.
Decatur County Memorial Hospital would like to invite you to our 95th birthday celebration on Friday, December 1st. The event will run from 6 pm until 9 pm at the hospital. The party will include a tree lighting, photos with Santa, live reindeer, carolers, hot chocolate bar and sweets, and much more.
DCMH welcomes all guests who were born at the hospital to enter a drawing for a $95 VISA gift card. Registration will be the evening of the event. The winner will be announced after the event.
Need another reason to celebrate? We want to hear why you love your community hospital. DCMH is encouraging all community members and previous patients to call in to WTRE on November 17th at 9 am to share your story with us. Whether it was a physician who saved your life, a nurse who went above and beyond, or an ancestor who worked here years ago, we want to hear about it. Please share your story with us on the radio!
As part of our celebration, DCMH is also looking for the oldest living Decatur County resident who was born at the hospital. If you think you or a family member might be the one, share your birthdate with us during the WTRE broadcast on November 17th at 9 am. We would like to recognize you at our birthday celebration on December 1st.
