GREENSBURG – Local radio station WTRE and the Greensburg Public Library recently hosted their annual Mother’s Day luncheon program.

The event included lunch provided by Izzy’s Catering, a do-it-yourself Pinterest painting project, and a hospital presentation by CEO Rex McKinney and OB/GYN Dr. Anxhela Treska. The women also were treated to a surprise guest, television host and producer Patty Spitler, along with her two canine companions.

McKinney spoke to the women about the hospital’s goals for the upcoming year and how he is striving to connect with this community.

“We want to show this community the quality care we provide at DCMH, and all of the service lines we have available to them,” he said.

He also shared the important mothers in his life and why they have made such an impact on him growing up.

Dr. Treska ended with a health and wellness presentation. She spoke about her journey through medical school and reviewed women’s health topics including the importance of pap smears and recommendations on when to schedule appointments. Dr. Treska also shared the new DCMH Women’s Health location, across the street in the Welage Building, and let it be known she is accepting new patients.

The women were very excited to learn who the special guest was. Spitler now features her dogs Mabel and Stewie on Pet Pals TV. She also hosts another show called Boomer TV, which airs Sunday mornings on WISH-TV.

Spitler shared with the lunching guests her battle with hearing loss and how she turned something negative into a positive situation. She explained that the biggest challenge for those who have hearing loss is admitting that they need help.

“This is my life, sharing great, uplifting, positive pet stories and giving animal lovers the best advice from many qualified sources,” Spitler said.

“The ladies of WTRE enjoy celebrating Mother’s Day with the women of this community,” Cathy Verseman of WTRE said. “We strive to make it a day of special treatment and pampering with fun, a great lunch, and special entertainment. We also love partnering with our friend, Lori Durbin, and the Greensburg Library to make this event happen. This could not have been possible without all of our amazing sponsors. We thank everyone who made this event possible.”
