March is National Athletic Trainers Month. Athletic Trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. ATs are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who work under the direction of physicians, as prescribed by state licensure statutes.

During this Month, it is important to remember how much athletic trainers impact a community. Our highly-skilled athletic trainers, Amanda Mang and Kevin Fields, are available at all three area high schools to provide student athletes with prevention, evaluation, and treatment of sports injuries.

Kevin Fields ATC, LAT has been an Athletic Trainer at DCMH for 20 years providing coverage at Greensburg High School and Delta Faucet. He is originally from Greensburg and attended North Decatur High School. Kevin graduated from Anderson University. He is married to Leah Banks and together they share an 18-year-old daughter named Madison and an eight-year-old son, Mathew.

Amanda Mang MS, ATC, LAT, CEAS has been an Athletic Trainer at DCMH for 3 years providing coverage at North and South Decatur as well as Trane in Rushville. She was raised and attended high school in Crown Point, Indiana. Amanda graduated from Indiana State University for both her undergrad and masters in Athletic Training. She and her husband Sean have been married for eight years and together they share a three-year-old daughter named Claire, a three-month- old daughter named Nora, and a nine-year-old miniature schnauzer named Buddy.

DCMH would like to thank both Athletic Trainers for all of their hard work and dedication to this community.
