DCMH Rehabilitation Services is proud to recognize Donna Hermesch as our August Patient of the Month. Donna is currently receiving Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Cardiac Rehab at our Rehabilitation & Medical Offices building. She was nominated by her care team Ladine Lipinski (OT), Heather Riga (ST), Holly Koors (PT), and Gabi Elston (CR) for her hard work, determination, and positive attitude.
Following heart surgery, Donna has committed herself fully to her recovery. In addition to building physical strength, she works diligently in speech therapy on memory and cognitive-communication exercises, understanding the importance of strengthening both body and mind. Her therapists note that she never gives up, even when challenges arise, and her sense of humor and optimism make every session enjoyable.
Donna also inspires those around her. She often encourages fellow patients with her words, “I can do this! I want to get better, so I’m going to do it!” Her personal goals include walking without a cane in the community, building the endurance to walk to the front of her church for communion, returning to Bible study, and driving again.
Her care team is confident she will achieve these goals and continues to cheer her on every step of the way. Congratulations, Donna!
