Decatur County Memorial Hospital’s (DCMH) Senior Life Solutions program hosted two Lunch & Learn events in May focused on Healthy Aging & Mental Well-Being: Coping with Life Transitions.
These interactive sessions invited attendees—including DCMH Empowered Community Members—to explore emotional challenges that often come with aging, such as retirement, grief, loneliness, and the importance of staying socially connected.
One key takeaway: increasing social activity as we age is one of the best ways to support mental health and boost overall well-being.
The events highlighted local opportunities to stay active and engaged in Greensburg, including:
- The Greensburg Adult Center, offering daily activities M-F (812-663-2232)
- Free Senior Movie Day at Wolf Theatre every 4th Thursday, made possible by WTRE and other sponsor organizations, DCMH sponsors free popcorn at each movie (812-663-3000)
- YMCA SilverSneakers classes (812-663-9622)
- Programs at the Greensburg Library (812-663-2826)
- Bread of Life classes (812-663-1055)
- Walking the DCMH Walking Trail with friends or family (720 N. Lincoln St.)
- Volunteering at DCMH (DCMH HR 812-663-1137)
Whether you’re navigating these changes personally or supporting a loved one, DCMH encourages the community to stay connected, stay active, and continue the conversation around healthy aging.
