About DCMH
Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) opened its doors on February 4, 1922, at its current location. The original hospital building, which is still in use, featured 16,000 square feet. Although DCMH resides in a small town, the hospital’s care and spirit are equal to that of a major city hospital.
As the community and healthcare services continued to grow, there have been multiple remodels and additions to buildings over the last 100+ years. The most recent expansion was in 2023 when DCMH completed the Rehabilitation & Medical Offices building, which is now home to family medicine, foot & ankle care, orthopedics, physical therapy, rehabilitation services, women’s care, and more.
In addition to the traditional services provided by most critical-access hospitals, DCMH features Cancer Care & Infusion Services, Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers (Advanced Wound Healing), Neurology, Pulmonology, Rheumatology, Sleep Clinic, Occupational Services, and more.
The Hospital Foundation of Decatur County was founded in 1992 to provide additional financial support for the healthcare initiatives of DCMH and the community. The Foundation supported the hospital’s additions in 1995, 2003, 2013, and 2023. The Foundation hosts major social events throughout the year, such as the Gala held in the spring, the “Event ‘Fore’ Caring” golf outing, and the fun-filled “Tee Off ‘Fore’ Ta-Tas” event. The Foundation also supports major health-related community events, including the DCMH Women’s Health Expo, Healthy Fair, and Men’s Health Tailgate.
