On Monday April 9th, Decatur County Memorial Hospital hosted a Mommy & Me Expo Event. All attendees were encouraged to explore a variety of booths and treat themselves to an evening of fun and refreshments. The event took place at the Decatur County Schools Administration Building and ran from 6pm – 8pm. DCMH invited all expecting and experienced mommies, as well as daddies and children to attend. The idea was to highlight the women of this community and recognize all mothers and soon to be mothers for an enjoyable evening.
The event included 26 outside vendors, such as the Greensburg Public Library, YMCA, Essential Oils, and Marykay, as well as hospital service lines and Primary Care/OBGYN Physicians. DCMH also provided free blood pressure checks, cholesterol, vision and ear infection screenings to all attendees.
Amber McHenry, DCMH Women’s Center Manager, stated, “The Mommy & Me Expo was a great event for the community. It allowed those who attended a chance to meet and ask questions of many of the physicians who practice at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. We had several vendors under one roof who provide valuable resources for our community. The event was well planned and I hope to see it grow each year.”
With having approximately 150 attendees this year, it was important for DCMH to showcase their providers and share what services they can offer to the women.
Katie Grossman, Practice Manager of TCMP, Women’s Care and General Surgery, said, “We had great community involvement from the vendors to the hospital staff and from the providers to our current and prospective patients we welcomed at the door…. It was a true showcase of caring for these families from pregnancy thru delivery. It was a wonderful event and we look forward to continuing to meet the needs of our local community by showcasing & offering events such as these.”
