The Decatur County Firefighters Association is made up of members from all fire departments who provide fire coverage in Decatur County. Decatur County Memorial Hospital EMS is an active member through the written mutual aid agreement as the EMS transport provider. The Association meets monthly to discuss emergency issues and concerns of Decatur County. They rotate to different stations throughout the year. For the March 28th meeting, the group met at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

CEO Rex McKinney welcomed the association after being introduced by DCMH EMS Manager Scott Chasteen. Rex included a short bio of himself and discussed the goals of DCMH, along with his expectations of the hospital. The main focus was for all members to meet Rex in person and learn how the hospital is working towards bettering the community.

Rex stated, “Our community is blessed to have such a dedicated group collaborating and working to keep us safe.  It is impressive that such a large group works to ensure emergency standards are met, implement best practices and promotes teamwork among departments.  We extend a sincere thank you for their service and dedication to our community.”

President of the Association Brad Speer stated, “It was nice for all of our members to meet Rex and discuss our goals for this upcoming year. Our association has a close relationship with the hospital and enjoys working with them.”

Greensburg Fire Chief Steve Garrett added, “The Firefighters Association is important because it allows communication with all departments throughout Decatur County. We handle any issues or complications while creating a good working relationship with everyone. We enjoyed learning how much Rex wants to help the community work together more.”
