Decatur County Memorial Hospital would like to announce the opening of their new and improved Cafeteria, the Lincoln Café!

In 2018, DCMH began renovations for the kitchen and cafeteria. General Manager of Environmental and Nutritional Services Jacob Peerman said, “Overall, everything was outdated, including some of the equipment. We needed many updates and a few changes to the overall process of the cafeteria.”

One major change with the remodeling included a separate salad bar addition. Peerman added, “By moving the salad bar along the wall and allowing it to be its own separate entity, we have the capability of offering so much more. Before, our salad bar was mediocre and we could only provide a couple of entrees. We can now offer more hot entrees and an overall better flow through the line.”

Lincoln Café is also providing pizzas on demand, sub sandwiches made with Boar’s Head meat, a bigger cooler for more grab-n-go items, and more.

Peerman added, “We also have installed digital sign monitors on the back wall by the grill. This allows customers to read the menu and prices easily. There is big potential for us to become a fully functional deli for the community in 2019.”

“We brought a professional chef in to help with the transition. By having more efficiency and more of a café feel, we are able to focus more on the quality of food and services through our kitchen and presentation. I am excited with everything that has happened so far and still what is to come!”

In addition, DCMH will now be offering hot breakfast beginning March 1st, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 8:30 am.
