On December 5, Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) hosted its annual Holiday Lane celebration on the DCMH Walking Trail, where an impressive crowd of over 700 community members braved the chilly temperatures and some snow to spread holiday cheer and celebrate together while they visited 21 stops along the stroll. Attendees enjoyed an array of holiday treats and activities, including a twinkling light-up toy wand, a warm beanie, photos with Santa and his reindeer, seasonal inflatable characters, and a custom hot chocolate bar with a build-a-cookie experience.

Many DCMH departments joined in, including Cancer Care & Infusion Services, Dietary, Emergency Department, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Environmental Services, Family Medicine Practices, Hospital Foundation of Decatur County, Immediate Care Clinic, Maintenance, Marketing, Med/Surg, Outpatient Clinic, Pain Management, Radiology, Rehabilitation Services, Senior Life Solutions, and Women’s Center.

Additionally, several community partners, including Aspen Place Health Campus, Big Dawg Sound, Decatur County Family YMCA, Decatur County Health Department, Greensburg Decatur County Public Library, Greensburg Fire Department, Greensburg Police Department, Honda, Willows of Greensburg, and WTRE, helped DCMH kick off the holiday season.

“DCMH has proudly hosted a number of inspiring community events this year, and we’re thankful to spread some holiday cheer with this event,” said Rex McKinney, CEO/ President. “Our team is sincerely grateful for the ongoing support from our community.”

DCMH is appreciative to each department, team member, community partner, and vendor who attended, hosted a booth, or helped make the event possible. Special thanks to Lohrum Electrical, Negangard Tent & Party Rental, Patterson’s Nursery, The Event Rental Gallery, Santa, and Whitetail Acres Nursery & Landscaping.

“Seeing our families, friends, and neighbors come together, bundled up and smiling, reminds us why we do this each year,” said Liz McCoy, Marketing & Communications Manager. “Holiday Lane is one of our favorite ways of giving back, creating simple moments of joy, and celebrating community.”

Even on a chilly winter night, the warmth of the community created a heartwarming start to the holiday season. No matter how you say your holiday greetings, DCMH is sending you wishes for hope, health, and happiness throughout the holidays and beyond.
