GREENSBURG — According to the United States Census Bureau, by the year 2030, Americans 65 and older will account for 70 million people, making up 20% of the U.S. population. With aging can come new challenges and difficult life transitions. These can include: the loss of loved ones, (spouse, siblings, friends, and/or adult children), the presence of chronic illness and its impact on independence and abilities, loss of employment, losses related to relocation, and loss of ability to drive.
Many older adults in the community may feel reluctant to talk to family, friends, or primary care physicians about symptoms of behavioral health problems because they have never had these kinds of symptoms before or they may attribute the symptoms to another illness. Not having behavioral healthcare needs prior in life, many older adults do not know where to begin to access care.
Senior Life Solutions knows that difficulties, such as depression and anxiety, are not considered a normal part of growing older.
Services include: psychiatric evaluation, group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, medication education, psychiatric medication management, and resource development.
The multidisciplinary treatment team at Senior Life Solutions is designed to help older adults overcome these trying circumstances and improve their quality of life. Anyone can make a referral inquiry to Senior Life Solutions. The program is located within Decatur County Memorial Hospital to make it easily accessible for older adults who routinely receive care at DCMH.
Decatur County Memorial Hospital Senior Life Solutions treatment team would be happy to assist you.
