Nykki Boersma, MD was recently elected as President Elect for the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP).

The mission of IAFP is to promote and advance family medicine in order to improve the health of Indiana. The goal of this organization is to shape healthcare policy in Indiana through interactions with government, the public, businesses, the healthcare industry and their patients. All members asked to be a part of the IAFP serve as the essential resource for the professional success of family physicians as leaders of the growing primary care workforce.

Rex McKinney, President and CEO of Decatur County Memorial Hospital said, “We are pleased Dr. Boersma will be leading and influencing patient care at the state level. We are happy to have her represent DCMH as the provider of choice for family medicine education in Indiana.”

Dr. Boersma added, “I’ve been involved with the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians since medical school, and the doctors that I’ve met there have helped to shape me as a physician. I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead.”
