Welcome to Greensburg, Indiana!

CourthouseGreensburg is conveniently located in the heart of Decatur County, Indiana. The City serves as the seat of county government, and is widely known for its famed Courthouse Tower Tree. The community is strategically located in southeast Indiana at the intersections of Interstate 74, State Roads 3 & 46, and US Highway 421. The larger metropolitan areas of Indianapolis, Indiana and Cincinnati, Ohio are equi-distant from the community; both within an easy 55 minute drive on I-74.

Approximately 25,000 people call Decatur County home, with 11,500 of those living in Greensburg. The media and advertisers have often billed the community “unique” or “world-famous” for a large-toothed aspen tree growing from the top of the Decatur County Courthouse tower. Serving as an inspiration and downtown tourist destination, many local businesses have adopted the name “Tree City” or “Tree County.”

Greensburg is a progressive community with the charm of a small town but the resolve of a much larger community. A number of visionaries have helped the community pursue projects such as a new comprehensive plan for the community,  supported major capital campaigns and attracted significant grants.

The community is home to several large employers, and Honda Motor Company developed a 1,700 acre site just NW of the city in 2007-08. The $550+ million investment in the site supports an auto assembly plant that produces Honda Civics, the Civic GX and the Acura ILX. The plant currently employs 2,300 workers and started production in October 2008. GECOM, Valeo Engine, Hitachi Powdered Metals and KB Specialty Foods are other major employers in the area.
